The Suspect Of Burning His Wife Was Once Recorded As A Fugitive In Cases Of Damage And Sharp Weapons

JAKARTA The name JPT alias Ance (26) has re-emerged in the police force. A year ago, he was known as a drunk man who went berserk and damaged an ijo peanut porridge cart at Tanjung Lekong Market, Jatinegara. Now, he is again arrested, not because of the beating, but because he burned his own wife.

The dark story begins with a jealous fire. Saturday night, October 18, 2025, in the Otista area, Jatinegara, Ance poured gasoline and burned his wife, CAM (24), after suspecting that his wife was having an affair with another man.

The suspicion arose after Ance's younger brother admitted that he saw CAM walking with a man who was suspected of having a special relationship with him.

Head of Subunit 1 General Crime of the East Jakarta Metro Police, Ipda Robby Sidiq, said Ance had fled after the incident and was finally arrested in the Bekasi area on the same night.

"We have secured the suspect and are now being held at the East Jakarta Metro Police Rutan," said Robby, Thursday, October 23, 2025.

But apparently, this is not the first time Ance has dealt with the law. In April 2024, he was once a police fugitive because he went berserk in a drunken state while carrying two machetes.

At that time, he intended to injure a peanut porridge trader named Kusnadin, but was prevented by residents. Because they failed to injure, Ance vented his anger by destroying the merchandise cart.

"The perpetrator was on the wanted list (DPO) in the case of beating the porridge. He served a six-month prison sentence," Robby added.

Now, the recidivist must again face the iron bars. The police confiscated a number of evidences, including the victim's burning clothes, a bottle containing the remaining gasoline, the perpetrator's clothes, and the results of the post-mortem et repertum (VeR).

For his actions, Ance was charged with Article 44 paragraph (1) of Law Number 23 of 2004 concerning the Elimination of Domestic Violence (KDRT) with a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and a fine of up to IDR 500 million.

Due to its recidivist status, the penalty could be increased by one-third of the principal sentence, accompanied by additional articles Articles 406 and 335 of the Criminal Code concerning vandalism and acts of violence.

Ance's story is a portrait of how anger and jealousy can turn into fatal violence. From a porridge who was almost injured, now his own wife is a victim of a fire that shouldn't be burning.
