JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto requested that some money in compensation for state losses from corruption crimes of Rp. 13 trillion which had just been handed over by the Attorney General's Office, be allocated to scholarships for the Education Fund Management Institution (LPDP).

"The money from the remaining savings efficiency, the money we get from corruptors, most of which we invest in LPDP, maybe the Rp13 trillion donated or taken by the Attorney General today is handed over to the Minister of Finance, maybe we can put some of them in LPDP for the future," said President Prabowo at the opening of the Plenary Cabinet Session at the State Palace, Jakarta, Monday, October 20.

While chairing the Plenary Cabinet Session in one year of government, President Prabowo assessed that the proceeds from the return of losses to the state of corruption could be invested in LPDP managed under the Ministry of Finance.

The Rp13 trillion fund is the result of the submission of confiscated evidence in a corruption case in the provision of crude palm oil (CPO) export facilities and their derivatives which were handed over by the Attorney General's Office, on Monday (20/10).

Prabowo conveyed this after explaining the national education program, including the development of public schools, superior schools at Garuda High School, as well as the expansion of scholarships and the addition of medical faculties.

According to the President, LPDP scholarship funds need to be strengthened so that Indonesia can produce more superior generations who are globally competitive.

In order to catch up with education issues from other countries, the Head of State also introduced the Garuda School program.

Prabowo also highlighted the importance of finding talented children from all corners of the country, not only from the upper middle class.

According to the President, many children from simple families have extraordinary intelligence and deserve the opportunity to study with full scholarships.

"We have to look for them and don't assume that they are children of the upper middle class, many children of the lower class, the poor actually have high intelligence. We have to look for them," he explained.

Therefore, Prabowo requested that the search for talented students be carried out collaboratively between ministries, TNI, Polri, to community organizations and educational foundations.

"So I ask the Minister of Education and Culture to be assisted by the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology, assisted by the Minister of Social Affairs, assisted by the TNI Commander, assisted by the National Police Chief who has a network to villages, maybe assisted by mass organizations, assisted by those who have foundations, looking for them," said the President.
