JAKARTA - Iran has executed a man convicted of spying for Israel, in the latest series of death sentences since the two countries became involved in attacking each other for 12 days in June.
Iranian authorities said the man admitted to collaborating with Mossad and leaking classified information online.
They said the man began contacting Israeli intelligence in October 2023 and was arrested in early 2024.
The man was hanged on Saturday in the holy city of Qom, south of Tehran, as reported by The National 20 October.
Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Qom Kazem Mousavi said his sentence had been confirmed by the Iranian Supreme Court and his request for clemency was rejected, according to a court website.
Iran is known to have executed at least nine people accused of espionage since a 12-day air war in which Israel bombed nuclear sites and killed senior military figures and scientists.
The United States took part in the bombing of Tehran's vital nuclear facility bunker before a ceasefire agreement was reached.
Iran executed six people this month who were convicted of carrying out an attack on behalf of Israel. Authorities said the group "operated directly in contact with the Zionist regime intelligence apparatus."
A few days earlier, a man described as one of Israel's main spies was hanged. Another suspect, Roozbeh Vadi, was executed for leaking information about a nuclear scientist who died in the June conflict.
