Millions In 50 US States Demo 'No Kings', Anti Trump's One Piece Flag Flying

JAKARTA - Millions of people took to the streets of 50 US states in a demonstration titled "No Kings" protesting a number of US President Donald Trump's tough policies.

Citing AFP, the organizers of the mass action said about seven million demonstrators were involved in the ongoing demonstrations from New York to Los Angeles, and appeared in small US towns, even near Trump's home in Florida, on Saturday local time.

"This is how democracy!" shouted thousands of people who took part in a demonstration in Washington, near the US Capitol Building, the federal government's operational site, which closed in the past three weeks due to shutdown, Sunday, October 19.

Many of the demonstrators carried colorful placards or posters that read "Maintaining Democracy".

Not a few have demanded the US Government to remove the US Immigration and Customs Agency (ICE) which continues Trump's command of strict policies against immigrants.

Demonstrators also criticized Trump's policy of often anti-media and anti-criticism opposition and the general public. According to them, the US Government's policy is a violent game of Republican billionaires supporting Trump.

"I never thought I would live to witness the destruction of my democratic country," said Collector Hoffman, a 69-year-old retiree, while participating in the long march of the "No Kings" demo section on Broadway, New York.

"We are in crisis in the atrocities of this regime, authoritarianism. I feel I cannot sit at home and do nothing," Hoffman continued.

In Los Angeles, demonstrators of "No Kings" waved a giant balloon with Trump's picture wearing diapers.

Many demonstrators also raised flags in this simultaneous demonstration, one of which was the "One Piece" flag, the hallmark of anti-government protests from Peru, Madagascar to Indonesia.

"The opponent of ignorance, not migrants," reads one banner in a protest in Houston, where nearly a quarter of the population is immigrants, according to a Migration Policy Institute report.

The majority of demonstrations in dozens of US states were peaceful.
