JAKARTA - Minister of Transmigration (Mentrans) Muhammad Iftitah Sulaiman Suryanagara emphasized that the government continues to accelerate the certification of transmigration land to solve the overlap problem of the area where transmigrants live which can trigger agrarian conflicts.

Iftitah said that out of a total of 13,000 plots of land in transmigration areas, more than 6,000 have been successfully certified as concrete evidence of the government's commitment to providing legal certainty for the community.

"So our target is 13,000 which we have certified. Now we have 6 thousand certificates, more than 6 thousand. Of course, once again, it is not easy to complete this land," said the Minister of Transmigration on the sidelines of the Open House for a full 24 hour at the Office of the Ministry of Transmigration, Jakarta, Saturday.

He said the certification program was a strategic step in strengthening the ownership rights of transmigrants who had been facing land status uncertainty due to overlapping spatial and forestry policies.

The Minister of Transmigration explained that some of the transmigration areas occupied since 1999 have now entered the forestry area due to changes to the rules, thus requiring the search of documents to determine the priority of completion.

He admitted that the handling process was not easy because a number of transmigration locations had to be reverified based on administrative data and land certificates that became the basis for determining certification by the government.

"For example, in 1999 we placed transmigrants in (regencies) Luwu (South Sulawesi). Suddenly in 1999 there was a Forestry Law. And there was an obligation from the provincial government so that each province had 30 percent of the forest. 20 years later from 1999, suddenly the transmigration area was designated as a forest area," he said, explaining.

In its resolution, the Ministry of Transmigration cooperates closely with the Ministry of Forestry and the Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency (ATR/BPN) which is considered very cooperative in clarifying data and accelerating the legalization process of transmigration land.

"Like this we are also fighting for. We convey. I am only grateful, the Minister of Forestry is also very cooperative, including the Minister of ATR is also very cooperative. The proof is that there are more than 6,000 certificates that we have distributed, that is one step forward compared to before," he said.

The Minister of Transmigration emphasized that solving the problem of transmigration land is a tangible manifestation of President Prabowo Subianto's attention to the people, as well as an important step to strengthen economic equality and agrarian justice throughout Indonesia.
