House Of Representatives Commission X Reminds Parents Who Were Slapped By The Principal: Don't Report Little Police

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of Commission X of the DPR, Lalu Hadrian Irfani, responded to the case of the Head of SMAN 1 Cimarga, Lebak, Banten, Dini Fitria, who slapped smokers in the school environment and has now ended peacefully.

Then remind parents not to rush to bring problems at school to the realm of law in the event of friction between teachers and students.

"If there is a problem between teachers and students, it should be resolved with a family dialogue. Don't report to the police very little, because schools are educational places, not conflict arenas," said Lalu Hadrian to reporters, Thursday (10/10/2025).

For information, the parents of a student of SMAN 1 Cimarga, Lebak, plan to withdraw the report of alleged attachment to the Principal of Early Pitria after a peace agreement was reached at school.

Although both parties, both school principals and students who smoke, have reconciled, Lalu emphasized that this incident should be a lesson for all schools in Indonesia.

According to him, school regulations must be enforced, but not with violence. He assessed that students must obey the rules and regulations and should not smoke in an educational environment.

"But school principals and teachers should also not use violence in any form to their students," said Lalu.

Then stress, enforcement of discipline in schools must be educational, not physically punishing. Sanctions for students who violate, he continued, can be in the form of social activities, coaching, or counseling approaches.

"In principle, educating without injuring," he said.

The legislator of the National Awakening Party (PKB) from the Election Area of West Nusa Tenggara hopes that the case at SMAN 1 Cimarga will be a momentum for all parties to build a safe, ethical, and respectful education climate.

"Schools must be a space that forms character, not a place that grows fear. All parties have a responsibility to maintain the dignity of education," he concluded.
