Today's Weather: The Majority Of The Indonesian Region Potentially Light Rain To Lightning Accompanied

JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) estimates that weather conditions in most parts of Indonesia on Tuesday (14/10) are dominated by the potential for light rain to rain accompanied by lightning.

BMKG forecaster Yohanes AK in a weather forecast broadcast in Jakarta, Tuesday, detailed that the Sumatra region in general has the potential to experience light to moderate rain.

"For the Banda Aceh, Medan, and Pekanbaru areas, light rain is forecast, while the potential for rain accompanied by lightning can occur in Padang and Tanjung Pinang," he said.

In southern Sumatra, BMKG predicts running air in Bandar Lampung, light rain in Bengkulu, Jambi, and Palembang, and the potential for rain accompanied by lightning in Pangkalpinang.

Conditions In Java And Bali-Nusa Tenggara

For Java Island, Yohanes said cloudy weather is predicted to occur in Bandung, while thick cloudy in Jakarta, Serang, and Surabaya.

"As for light rain, it is likely to occur in Yogyakarta, and the potential for rain accompanied by lightning needs to be watched out for in the Semarang area," he said.

Meanwhile, the areas of Bali and Nusa Tenggara are estimated to be cloudy in Denpasar, light rain in Kupang, and the potential for rain accompanied by lightning in Mataram.

Kalimantan, Sulawesi, And Eastern Indonesia

On the island of Kalimantan, BMKG predicts thick cloudy weather in Banjarmasin, as well as light rain in Pontianak, Palangkaraya, Samarinda, and Tanjung Selor.

Furthermore, on the island of Sulawesi, weather conditions will vary between sunny and cloudy in Gorontalo, Makassar, and Kendari. Light rain has the opportunity to occur in Palu and Manado, as well as moderate rain in Mamuju.

For eastern Indonesia, BMKG estimates thick clouds in Ambon, light rain in Ternate, Sorong, Manokwari, and Jayawijaya, as well as moderate rain in Jayapura, Nabire, and Merauke.
