KPK Ready To Investigate Allegations Of Misappropriation Of MBG After BGN Talks About SPPG Fraud Mode

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) said it was ready to support the implementation of the free nutritious food program (MBG) by the National Nutrition Agency (BGN). In addition to prevention, enforcement steps will also be taken.

This was conveyed by KPK spokesman Budi Prasetyo when asked about BGN which revealed that there were various modes of fraud that occurred in the Nutrition Service Fulfillment Unit (SPPG).

"KPK is committed to supporting the implementation of the MBG program in accordance with the duties of the KPK, both through educational efforts and community participation in preventing supervision and prosecution coordination," Budi told reporters quoted on Friday, October 10.

Budi also said that this statement was conveyed by the KPK leadership during an audience with BGN at the KPK's Red and White building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta some time ago.

"This means that if there are things that we might be able to mitigate at the beginning, there are allegations that will have an impact on the decline in quality of MBG, we can do prevention at the beginning. So that the delivery of the products is free nutritious food, we can protect the quality together," he said.

Even so, Budi could not say whether there were reports of alleged corruption related to the implementation of the MBG to the KPK. "We'll check first," he said.

Meanwhile, Deputy for Systems and Governance of BGN Tigor Pangaribuan said Rp10 billion was disbursed for each SPPG that was prone to being misappropriated. The methods vary, such as reducing the quality of raw materials so that they can difference in prices to fictitious financial reports.

Tigor even said that one of the cases found was a collusion between the foundation and the head of the SPPG to buy raw materials with poor quality. As a result, these parties can pocket an additional IDR 20 million per month.

Currently, there are 10,681 SPPG units that have been operating. This means that around 10,861 Indonesian development-propelled scholars (SPPI) are believed to be the head of the SPPG, which generally works 26-27 years; 10,681 are trusted as nutritionists; and also 10,681 are trusted as accountants.
