Despite Decreased Mobility, Ministry Of Transportation Continues To Tighten Inspections On The Last Day Of Homecoming Ban

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Transportation continues to tighten the examination of health documents of travelers on the 12th or last day of the homecoming ban period, Monday, May 17.

"Today we together with the Task Force and the Ministry of Health agreed to continue to tighten the examination of health documents for all passengers and road users in all modes of transportation", said Transportation Minister, Budi Karya Sumadi, Monday, May 17.

Confirmed VOI, Ministry of Transportation mentioned, the provisions of the terms of travel of domestic passengers will again refer to the Addendum to Task Force Circular Letter No.13.

Air, sea, rail, and crossing travelers are required to present covid-19 negative documents valid 1x24 hours. As for road trip actors both public transportation and private vehicles (four-wheeled and two-wheeled), the implementation of rapid antigen random tests will be extended especially on national roads to Jabodetabek.

With the tightening of inspections, it is expected that people who enter Java, especially from areas that are indicated by the increase in cases of COVID-19, do not have the potential to result in transmission as a result of post-Eid travel.

"This considers the potential for mobility that is carried out after May 17, 2021, especially those from Sumatra and Central Java, West Java, and East Java that go into Java / Jabodetabek", said Minister Budi.

The Minister also asked all transportation stakeholders to ensure health protocols can be applied properly to public facilities such as terminals, stations, ports, and airports. The number of officers and the intensity of surveillance must also be increased.

Meanwhile, related to the implementation of the elimination/ban on homecoming ( May 6 to 17, 2021), until May 15, 2021, in general, there is a decrease in passenger mobility in all modes up to 84%.

The highest decrease occurred in air transportation which accumulated on May 6-15, 2021 the average daily passenger decreased by 93% compared to a typical day in April 2021.

While transportation for logistics is no decrease, there are even some improvements.

Despite a significant decrease in passenger volume, it is still necessary to be aware of public travel activities in the post-homecoming period, precisely on May 18-24, 2021.
