JAKARTA - President Mahmoud Abbas stressed there is no justice without Palestinian independence, expressing his readiness to cooperate with all partners, including the United Nations, France and United States President Donald Trump.
This was conveyed by President Abbas in a speech at the UN General Assembly in New York, USA which was delivered online on Thursday, after not obtaining a visa to attend in person.
"There will be no peace without justice, and there will be no justice without Palestinian independence," President Abbas said, launching WAFA September 26.
"We want to live in freedom, security and peace like all other nations on earth, in an independent and sovereign country on the 1967 border with East Jerusalem as its capital, living peacefully with our neighbors," said President Abbas.
He stressed that the time has come for the international community to provide justice to the Palestinian people, "which allows them to achieve their legitimate and free from occupational rights."
President Abbas on the same occasion also promised to cooperate with President Trump, Saudi Arabia, France, and the United Nations in a peace plan for the majority-backed Gaza by the world body.
The 193-member UN General Assembly with a majority vote this month supported a seven-page declaration aimed at advancing a two-state solution to Israel and Palestine, ending the Gaza war between Israel and Hamas militants.
The declaration comes from an international conference, on the conflict that has been going on for decades both sides, at the United Nations organized by Saudi Arabia and France in July.
The country of Uncle Sam and Israel boycotted the event and has rejected the international effort.
"Despite all the suffering our people have suffered, we reject what Hamas did on October 7 - the actions targeting Israeli civilians and holding them hostage - because these actions do not represent the Palestinian people nor their fair struggle for freedom and independence," Abbas explained.
"We have emphasized - and will continue to emphasize - Gaza is an integral part of the Palestinian State, and that we are ready to take full responsibility for the government and security there. Hamas will have no role in the government, and Hamas together with other factions must hand over their weapons to the Palestinian National Authority," said President Abbas.
