Admits Not Having Council Allowance Intervention, DPRD Asks Banyumas Regent To Evaluate Perbup

JAKARTA - The Banyumas Regency DPRD in Central Java, sent an official letter to the Regent of Banyumas Sadewo Tri Lastiono to conduct an evaluation and review of regulations related to allowances for council members.

"After observing the dynamics and aspirations of the community which are so dynamic, we, the leadership of the council together with the faction leaders, have agreed institutionally to write to the Regent of Banyumas," said Banyumas Regency DPRD Chairman Subagyo at a press conference at the Banyumas Regency DPRD Building, Purwokerto, Banyumas, Monday, confiscated by Antara.

According to him, this attitude was taken as an institutional step so that the discussion of allowances that have recently caused public attention can be addressed in a transparent manner.

He said the DPRD did not have the authority to stipulate the regent's regulations because the legal product was entirely in the executive realm.

Therefore, his party sent a letter as proof of the DPRD's official stance, not just a verbal discourse, and was left entirely to the executive for a re-evaluation or review of Regent Regulation (Perbup) Number 9 of 2024, especially those related to board allowances.

In this case, the review includes various components of allowances regulated in perbup, including housing allowances and transportation allowances.

"Of course, because we submitted it to evaluate the perbup, in which there are transportation allowances, housing allowances, please review how it actually looks like, how should it be," he said accompanied by three Deputy Chairmen of the Banyumas Regency DPRD.

According to him, the DPRD does not have intervention and fully leaves it to the Banyumas Regent to revise the regulation if it is deemed not to fulfill a sense of justice in the community.

Regarding the transparency of budget use, he said the allowance received by council members was actually compensation for state facilities that could not be provided, such as official houses or official vehicles.

"For example, the leadership of the council has received official vehicles so that they do not receive transportation allowances even though they are listed in the rules," he said.

He hopes that the evaluation carried out by the regional government can end the polemic while maintaining a conducive situation in Banyumas.

In addition, he invited all components of society to work together to build Banyumas together.

"Hopefully, we Banyumas will remain peaceful, cool, calm, tentrem. Let all components of society work together to build Banyumas together," said Subagyo.

In Article 9 of the Banyumas Regent Regulation Number 9 of 2024 concerning the Financial Rights of the Leaders and Members of the DPRD, it is stated that the leadership and members of the DPRD receive housing allowances in the form of money given every month, each amounting to Rp42,625,000 for the Chairman of the DPRD, Rp34,650,000. for the Deputy Chairperson of the DPRD, and Rp23,650,000 for members of the DPRD.

Meanwhile, Article 10 states that the leadership and members of the DPRD get the transportation allowances given every month, each amounting to Rp. 14,500,000. For the leadership of the DPRD and Rp. 13,500,000. Therefore, because local governments can provide official vehicle positions for DPRD leaders, transportation allowances for DPRD leaders are not provided.
