A Number Of Traditional Markets For The Management Of Pasar Jaya Are Revitalized By This Tofu

JAKARTA - Perumda Pasar Jaya is revitalizing a number of traditional markets under its management. This year, the revitalization of Hexagon Market, Sumur Batu Market, Kalideres Market, and Kombongan Market is also completed. The Kombongan Market is scheduled to be inaugurated soon.

In addition, a number of markets have been completed and operational, such as Jaturawasari Market, Central Jakarta and Cilincing Market, North Jakarta in 2024.

"The revitalization program is projected to continue gradually in the coming years. Pasar Jaya targets this development to become a space to strengthen the local economy while supporting Jakarta towards a global city with modern, inclusive, and competitive public facilities," said Public Relations Manager Pasar Jaya, Fahrizal Irfan to reporters, Wednesday, September 17.

Perumda Pasar Jaya, said Irfan, is strengthening the revitalization and market development program as an effort to maintain the existence of traditional markets amidst changes in people's lifestyles.

This strategy is directed to make the market more modern, comfortable, and able to compete with shopping centers and online shopping platforms.

Throughout 2023'2025, Pasar Jaya has completed exterior painting on 67 markets and carried out revitalization and development in 12 markets. Repairs include supporting facilities such as parking, drainage, sanitation, and arrangement of kiosks to make them neater, hygienic, and representative.

Not only that, sports facilities are also presented in 19 markets, ranging from futsal fields, badminton, to mini Soccer fields. The market is expected to be no longer just a space for buying and selling, but also a center for interaction and community activities.

"We are trying to make the market a modern economic center for the people without losing their identity. This revitalization allows traders and the public to enjoy a more comfortable, clean, and safe shopping experience," he said.

Previously, DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung admitted that many traditional markets in Jakarta were slum and had not been repaired or revitalized.

"A few days ago, we happened to have a special meeting about the market. One of the things that need to be improved must be admitted from the 153 markets owned by Jakarta, not all of which have been revitalized," said Pramono at the Budhi Asih Hospital, Kramat Jati, East Jakarta, Tuesday, September 16.

Pramono said that the ranks of the DKI Provincial Government had held a meeting to accommodate the aspirations of traders who are members of the market traders cooperative association. To Pramono, they asked that slum markets be renovated immediately.

Therefore, Pramono will order Perumda Pasar Jaya to immediately map the prioritized market for revitalization and start implementing improvements.

"Yesterday we also met a co-operation of traders and they also asked for renovations or optimization of the existing ones, but they also asked that the public health facilities in the market not be used by the Jaya market to sell. I have agreed, so we will immediately carry out renovations," said Pramono.
