JAYAPURA - The Directorate of Special Criminal Investigation (Ditreskrimsus) of the Papua Police arrested a foreign national (WNA) from China with the initials HB who was involved in illegal mining investment in Keerom Regency.

Kasubdit IV Tipidter Ditreskrimsus Polda Papua, Kompol Agus F. Pombos, said the perpetrator had been named a suspect for playing an investor in the illegal mine.

"HB was arrested in Kalipur Village, Senggi District and is currently in the custody of the Papua Police for the development of an investigation," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, September 16.

According to Agus, from the information received in addition to playing an investor, HB is also working with another investor, namely CK, who is currently still being chased.

"This week we will determine CK as a DPO and the latest information we received CK is still in China," he said.

Suspect HB was charged with Article 35 paragraph 3 of Law Number 3 of 2020 concerning Mineral and Coal Mining, with a maximum imprisonment of five years.
