Support Prabowo Builds 500 People's Schools, DPR: Important Evaluation To Right Target

JAKARTA Member of Commission X DPR RI, Habib Syarief Muhammad supports President Prabowo Subianto's target of adding 100 public school points per year. However, he hopes that there will be periodic evaluations so that the purpose of developing people's schools for children is less capable of being on target academically and socially.

"We certainly support President Prabowo's plan to expand the target of public schools, especially in the outermost, underdeveloped and frontier (3T) areas. However, it is important to continue to evaluate both academically and socially whether this people's school is really on target," Habib Syarif told reporters, Friday, September 12.

In fact, according to Habib Syarif, the existence of people's schools is indeed a necessity for children from underprivileged groups. Especially for children who live in 3T areas.

The President's policy to build 500 People's Schools in the 3T area must receive full support. The 3T area must ensure access to education, including the existence of the People's School," he said.

Habib revealed that currently 100 people's schools have been established. Even at the end of this year there will be an additional 65 people's schools so that the total becomes 165 people's schools.

"Hundreds of people's schools can be evaluated both related to the implementation and assess the achievements of students," he said.

The results of the evaluation, added Habib, could be the basis for improving the construction of people's schools at the next point. According to him, the results of this evaluation are important to ensure the effectiveness of community school development in the 3T area.

"We certainly support the President's noble ideals to ensure that access to education can be enjoyed by every child of the nation, it's just that we still have to put forward the hope of caution so that the implementation of public schools in the field is in accordance with the expectations of the President," he said.

He also reminded all parties to commit to ensuring that there are no loopholes for individuals who can take advantage of the situation and hinder school development targets. Supervision must include the availability of buildings, facilities, curriculum, educators, and basic needs of students.

I hope there will be periodic and measurable evaluations at least every three months. This is important so that every obstacle, such as lack of facilities, learning models, or building readiness, can be identified and addressed quickly," he concluded.
