JAKARTA - Vice President (Vice President) Gibran Rakabuming Raka asked current students who are used as pesantren to also be literate with the currently developing technology, including artificial intelligence (AI) technology, to also begin studying coding.

Gibran explained that the ability to utilize advanced technology, including increasing digital literacy, is important so that when the students graduate from Islamic boarding schools, they have the competence and meet the qualifications needed by the world of work.

"For example, the concentration of the Vice President is how this pesantren is digitally literate, literate AI, and understand how it is encoded. Now, this is very in line with what we want together, if our pesantren must be a resource that does have strength that can also be absorbed by the workforce," said Secretary General of the National Movement Ayo Mondok Zahrul Azhar shared the contents of his meeting with the Vice President Gibran at the Vice President's Palace, Jakarta, Thursday, September 11.

Vice President Gibran received Zahrul's arrival along with several administrators from the Ayo Mondok National Movement, which is the national campaign resulting from an initiative from Rabithah Ma'ahid Islamiyah (RMI), an institution under the Nahdlatul Ulama (NU). The movement was first launched on June 1, 2015.

Zahrul revealed that Vice President Gibran also highlighted that the condition of more than 42,000 Islamic boarding schools in various regions of Indonesia did not yet have adequate facilities.

Gibran assessed that the situation needed attention, because currently parents of millennial age do not only pay attention to the quality of education and teaching, but also the feasibility of living conditions in dormitories.

"If (the old man, red) is millennial, surely he will feel bad about his bed, how is the bathroom, how is the kitchen and so on, so we also have to be ready to improve ourselves so that this pesantren can be enjoyed by all groups," continued Zahrul conveying the contents of his meeting with Gibran.

Zahrul later stated that Vice President Gibran, in a meeting at the Vice President's Palace today, also supported the National Coordination Meeting (Rakornas) for the leaders of Islamic Boarding Schools throughout Indonesia which is planned to be held in October 2025.

The aRakornas, as conveyed by Zahrul, became a forum to discuss improving the quality of Islamic boarding schools both in terms of religious science and mastery of science and technology.
