Coordinating Minister Yusril Suggests TNI To Open Dialogue With Ferry Irwandi

Coordinating Minister for Law, Human Rights, Immigration and Corrections (Menko Kumham Imipas) Yusril Ihza Mahendra suggested that the Indonesian National Army (TNI) could open communication and dialogue with social media activist, Ferry Irwandi, in an atmosphere of openness and good prejudice.

He said that taking legal action, let alone criminal, should be the last step if other efforts including dialogue do not find a way out.

"The crime is a remedium ultimatum, meaning the last path. As long as there is a dialogue room, it is better to take it first," said Yusril as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, September 11.

Regarding Ferry's writings on social media, the Coordinating Minister hopes that the TNI can review them carefully.

This is because if the various writings are constructive criticism, then they are part of freedom of expression, which is a human right and guaranteed by the 1945 Constitution (UUD).

Previously, the police said that the Commander of the Cyber Unit (Dansatsiber) TNI Headquarters Brigadier General Juinta Omboh Sembiring visited the Polda Metro Jaya to consult the plan to report Malacca Project CEO Ferry Irwandi to law enforcement.

"He (Brigjen Juinta Omboh) wants to report Ferry Irwandi," said Deputy Cyber Director of the Cyber Directorate of Polda Metro Jaya, AKBP Fian Yunus in Jakarta, Tuesday (9/9).

Meanwhile, Ferry Irwandi, said Fian, was about to be reported by the Satsiber regarding the alleged defamation.

"The defamation (of) institutions," said Fian.

Nevertheless, Fian said that in the consultation, according to the decision of the Constitutional Court (MK), the institution could not report defamation.

"Well, we continue to convey, according to the Constitutional Court's decision, institutions cannot report, it must be personal if it is defamation," said Fian.

Ferry's name is currently a hot topic of conversation in the public sphere after being mentioned in the results of the TNI cyber patrol, which found allegations of a criminal act involving Ferry in one of his content on social media.
