Decomposition Equipment Warehouse Fire In Bantul Extinguished, Cause Unknown

The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) deployed two fire fighting fleets (damkar) to extinguish the fire at the shop house (ruko) for the decoration equipment rental warehouse in the Bangunjiwo Village area, Kasihan, Bantul Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region (DIY).

"It has become our SOP (Security Standard Procedure), if we launch two fire houses or buildings," said Bantul BPBD Fire and Rescue (Damkarmat) Head Irawan Kurnianto when confirmed in Bantul, Thursday, in Antara.

According to him, the fire incident at the shophouse for the rental of decoration equipment in the Kasihan area occurred on Thursday, September 11 at 02.30 WIB and reports of the fire incident were received by the Bantul BPBD Damkarmat at around 03.40 WIB.

In addition to the two fire fighting fleets and Bantul BPBD personnel, he said, those involved in handling fires were local residents. The process of extinguishing the fire takes about 30 minutes.

"The cause of the fire at the shophouse object measuring five times six meters is not yet known. However, there were no casualties as a result of the fire incident," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of Public Relations of the Bantul Police, Iptu Rita Hidayanto, said that based on the report received, the fire started when the owner of the house behind the warehouse heard an explosion, then saw from inside the warehouse thick smoke because the fire was growing.

"The owner shouted for help from residents, then the residents came out to extinguish it with makeshift tools, using buckets, then the residents contacted the fire department," he said.

According to him, while according to the shop renter's statement, lastly there was a shipment of goods on September 1, 2025, then on September 7 it came to check the token and change the direction of the CCTV to be directed to the electric meter.

"There were no casualties in the incident, but the loss was estimated at around Rp. 150 million, in the form of decoration items in the decoration warehouse," he said.
