Civil Society Coalition Asks Police Not To Process Ferry Irwandi

JAKARTA - The Civil Society Coalition asks the police not to process the plan for a report against the CEO of the Malacca Project as well as the influencer of Ferry Irwandi by the Commander of the Cyber Unit (Dansatsiber) TNI Headquarters Brigadier General Juinta Omboh Sembiring.

"We ask the police not to process Ferry Irwandi and other activists for reports that are a follow-up to the results of monitoring the Dansatsiber," said the Civil Society Coalition as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, September 9.

The Civil Society Coalition consisting of Imparsial, Rakhsha Initiatives, Centra Initiative, DeJuRe, Indonesian Women's Coalition, HRWG, PBHI, APIK LBH Association, and Setara Institute assessed that the police must focus on dealing with rioting cases first by investigating allegations of involvement of certain planned individuals.

"The existence of initial information or data that sticks out in the online realm and offline should be used by law enforcement to start an investigation," they said.

The Civil Society Coalition also regrets the involvement of the TNI in monitoring cyberspace activities.

According to them, the TNI Cyber Unit should focus on ensuring systematic and measurable efforts related to the threat of cyber warfare as part of cyber defense (cyber defense).

"The TNI should not have acted far into the civilian realm to influence the law enforcement process," they said.

Previously, Deputy Cyber Director of the Cyber Directorate of Polda Metro Jaya AKBP Fian Yunus said the arrival of Dansatsiber TNI Headquarters Brigadier General Juinta Omboh Sembiring to Polda Metro Jaya on Monday (8/9) to consult a plan to report Ferry Irwandi to law enforcement.

Meanwhile, Ferry Irwandi, said Fian, was about to be reported by the Satsiber regarding the alleged defamation.

Nevertheless, Fian said that in the consultation, according to the decision of the Constitutional Court (MK), the institution could not report defamation.

"Well, we continue to convey, according to the Constitutional Court's decision, institutions cannot report, it must be personal if it is defamation," said Fian.
