Looking For Evidence, KPK Alleges Regent Pati Sudewo Also "Played" On The Sumatra And Sulawesi Railway Projects

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) suspects that the Regent of Pati Sudewa alias Sudewo has accepted bribes related to a number of rail line construction projects at the Director General of Railways (DJKA) of the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub).

This was conveyed by the acting (Plt) Deputy for Enforcement and Execution of the KPK Asep Guntur Rahayu when he was asked about the never being named a suspect, such as the insistence of the Pati residents. The current investigators are still gathering evidence of the involvement of the former member of Commission V of the DPR RI.

"Given that the person concerned is in several cases, so we are gathering evidence for all related cases," Asep told reporters quoted on Monday, September 8.

Asep said that Sudewo was suspected of playing in the construction of the railway line on the Solo Balapan-Kadipiro railway line, Tegal-Semarang section, Cianjur-Bogor section; East Java railway line; Sumatra railway line; and railway line sections in Sulawesi. Thus, investigators need time to explore the role of the politician from the Gerindra Party.

"God willing, in time it will reach the person concerned," he said.

As previously reported, Pati residents urged the KPK to immediately name Regent Pati Sudewo as a suspect in the bribery case for the construction of a railway line at the Director General of Railways (DJKA) of the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub).

They conveyed this wish during a demonstration at the KPK's Merah Putih building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta on Monday, September 1.

"Please discuss the representatives of the KPK here, if we want an open debate, what is the mechanism. Please open the debate, we dare. We cannot go home empty-handed," said one Pati resident who was present at the location through the loudspeaker.

"We can't go home with uncertainty, we can't go home just by, tomorrow, tomorrow tomorrow," he continued.

Citizen representatives ensure that they will not carry out anarchic actions. "But please listen to the voices of the people of Pati Regency. Don't let the people of Pati Regency not believe in the KPK," he said.

As for this case, Sudewo was questioned by the KPK on Wednesday, August 27. He was examined as a witness in the bribery case for the construction of a railway line at the Director General of Railways (DJKA) of the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub).

"I was summoned, asked for information as a witness. I answered all the questions honestly and as they were," Sudewo told reporters after undergoing examination.

Sudewo admitted that the question material was the same as the examination a few years ago, namely the money he received. He claims that the receipt has nothing to do with the DJKA case.

"That it is income money from the DPR RI, everything is detailed, there is income, income, there is a reduction," he said.
