Tears In The Middle Of Prayer: 3 Died, Dozens Of Injured As A Result Of The Collapse Of The Taklim Assembly Building In Bogor

Bogor Regent Rudy Susmanto stated that the number of victims due to the collapse of the Asohiziyah Taklim Council building in Sukamakmur Village, Ciomas District, Bogor Regency, West Java, on Sunday, September 7 morning reached more than 80 people.

The incident occurred during the Maulid activities of the Prophet Muhammad SAW which was attended by around 150 worshipers, the majority of women. The location of the event was full of shortness of breath, some of the congregation were inside the building, some outside, and some others on the terrace.

He expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and appealed to all parties to be steadfast in facing the disaster. "We express our deepest condolences, may the families of the victims be given fortitude," he said.

Rudy emphasized that the number of victims could still increase along with the data collection carried out by the joint team in the field. "We continue to coordinate with BPBD and hospitals to ensure that all data on victims is confirmed," he said.

Based on data from the Bogor Regency Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), three people were declared dead, namely Irni Susanti, a resident of Sukamakmur who had been treated at the Medika Dramaga Hospital, as well as Ulan and Nurhayati who were handled at PMI Bogor Hospital.

Dozens of other victims suffered serious, moderate, or minor injuries. They are scattered in a number of health facilities, including Bogor City Hospital, PMI Hospital, Ciawi Hospital, Karya Bhakti Pertiwi Hospital, Marzuki Mahdi Hospital, Sukamaju Clinic, Ciomas Health Center, and Arafah Clinic.

Three victims were reported to have suffered serious injuries, seven were moderately injured, and 25 others were slightly injured. A number of victims have been allowed to go home because their condition is stable, but most are still in intensive care.

BPBD noted that the incident occurred at around 08.30 WIB, with the first report entering at 09.42 WIB from the village apparatus. The BPBD Rapid Response Team (TRC) together with the TNI, Polri, Firefighters, and volunteers were immediately dispatched to the location to evacuate victims.

Joint officers managed to evacuate dozens of worshipers who were crushed by the rubble and took them to the nearest hospital. Until noon, the evacuation was completed and continued with cleaning of building materials.
