JAKARTA - The Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs expressed his condolences for the death of diplomat of the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Zetro Leonardo Purba in a shooting in Agile District, Lima Peru, Monday local time, requesting that the case be investigated thoroughly.

In a video upload on the Instagram of the Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Minister Sugiono said he had received news of the grief of the death of Zetro Leonardo Purba who served as the Deputy Kanselerai Penata of the Indonesian Embassy in Lima who was shot by an unknown person.

"I as the leader of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs feel such deep sorrow," said the Indonesian Foreign Minister in his upload, quoted on Tuesday, September 2.

"We have conveyed to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Peru and the police there to be able to investigate this case thoroughly," he explained.

Foreign Minister Sugiono said he had asked the Indonesian Ambassador to Peru Ricky Suhendar to oversee the investigation process of this case, as well as carry out the process of repatriating the deceased's body to Indonesia.

As previously reported, an Indonesian diplomat was reportedly shot dead in Agile District, Lima, Peru by three suspects outside his residence on Monday evening local time.

The bloody incident occurred on Jalan Cesar Vallejo, Block 3, Agile District. After the attack, the diplomat was taken to a local clinic, where his death was confirmed.

The victim was identified as Zetro Leonardo Purba (40) who. At the time of the incident, his wife was reportedly waiting for him at the entrance to the apartment where the deceased and his family lived.

"This is the first paid-up murder case we saw this year in the district. The motive behind the murder is not yet known, but the possibility of revenge not being ruled out.
