Rano Karno Targets Schools In Jakarta To Start Learning Normal On Wednesday

JAKARTA - Some schools in Jakarta implemented distance learning (PJJ) or online today. Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Rano Karno targets teaching and learning activities in Jakarta to return to normal on Wednesday, September 3.

"Schools that are approximately in an environment that is prone to us making distance learning. So that means that. But hopefully Wednesday will return to normal. Hopefully," said Rano in the Senen area, Central Jakarta, Monday, September 1.

The decision to implement PJJ in schools in Jakarta is stated in a notification letter from the DKI Jakarta Education Office.

Where, educational units that are close to demonstration locations or are constrained by access or requests from parents are allowed to carry out learning from home.

"So, schools that are indeed we can see where the vulnerable points are. We are indeed giving directions to the Education Office," said Rano.

Today, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government recorded 2,829 schools undergoing PJJ starting September 1. Then, as many as 2,439 schools in Jakarta continue to carry out normal teaching and learning activities in their respective educational units, as well as 346 schools running in a hybrid manner.

DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung said this decision was made in connection with demonstrations at several points which resulted in a number of roads being closed, leading to clashes.

"Why is this being done? Because after all, so that the education process in Jakarta is not disrupted," said Pramono.

Pramono also revealed that the government provides flexibility for private companies to work from home (WFH) until Tuesday, September 2.

Likewise with the state civil apparatus (ASN) within the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government which is allowed by WFH until tomorrow.

"If 1-2 days later everything has been running normally, what, we will withdraw the work from home. Including there is an appeal to the private sector. But we leave this entirely to the private sector to take policies," he said.
