Government Assistance Tractors For Farmers Are Even Sold, Finally Entering Detention Cells

The head of Gapoktan Cikawung 3 Cidaun, Cianjur, West Java, Udan Supena, was arrested by the Cianjur Police, in connection with a corruption case selling tractors for assistance from the central government/ANTARA/Ahmad Fikri.

The Cianjur Resort Police, West Java, arrested the Head of Gapoktan in Cidaun Udan Supena District regarding the alleged corruption of government aid tractors that were sold after one month was handed over to farmer groups.

Kasatreskrim Cianjur Police AKP Tono Listianto said the arrest of the Head of Gapoktan Cikawung 3 after applying for assistance for a four-wheeled tractor to the central government through the aspirations of DPR members of the Cianjur electoral district.

"The aid was disbursed in August 2020, after one month the perpetrator sold to someone in the Lampung area for Rp120 million," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, August 26.

The money from the sale of tractors was directly used for the perpetrator's personal needs, around Rp. 18 million was given to a member of a farmer group who had been carrying out application for assistance through members of the DPR Cianjur electoral district.

The police are still developing the case, especially tracing the existence of government aid tractors that should be used by farmer groups but sold to buyers in the Lampung area who enter as collectors.

"There may be other suspects, one of which is the buyer of a tractor because it is part of a collector, now we have spread members to look for evidence and catch the collector," he said.

The perpetrators were charged with Articles 2 and 3 of Law of the Republic of Indonesia number 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption with the threat of imprisonment for a maximum of life.
