Trump Alludes To War In Ukraine: Impossible To Play War Without Attacking

JAKARTA - Amid the unclear Russia-Ukraine peace agreement, President Donald Trump appears to suggest Ukraine should carry out military offensive.

In a post on the Truth Social platform, Trump criticized former President Joe Biden's approach to the war, claiming Biden "will not allow Ukraine to fight back, just hold on."

"It is very difficult, even impossible, to win a war without attacking the colonial state. It's like a great sporting team that has a fantastic defense, but is not allowed to play offensively. There is no chance to win!" Trump wrote as quoted by ABC News, Friday, August 22.

Last year, Biden reversed a long-standing policy and allowed Ukraine to use American-assisted ATACM long-range missiles to attack Russian territory. But the US government previously blocked attacks on Russian territory and only allowed Ukrainian militaries to use short-range missiles to attack Russian-captured Ukrainian territory.

Trump has long opposed Ukraine to attacking Russia, strongly criticizing Biden for allowing it.

However, Trump has recently reportedly spoken of a possible far-reaching Ukrainian attack on Russia.

The White House confirmed a report in July that Trump discussed with Volodymyr Zelenskyy whether Ukraine would be able to attack St. Petersburg and Moscow with US-backed weapons.

However, the White House insisted Trump "propelled questions, not pushed for further killings."

It's unclear whether Trump hinted at a policy change related to US support for Ukraine in his post on Thursday, although he wrote at the end of his post: "The exciting times ahead !!!"
