Attending A Trial In London, 'Kneecap' Musician Actively Defends Palestine Welcomed By Hundreds Of Supporters

JAKARTA - Liam Laughs at haNAnaidh, a member of the Irish rap group Kneecap, was greeted by hundreds of supporters upon arrival at London's Westminstermen's Court of London, England on Wednesday, August 20 local time.

Citing AFP, the figure who strongly opposes Israeli military attacks in Palestine is undergoing trial on terrorism charges.

The allegation was addressed to the singer with the stage name Mo Chara after he was deemed to have flown the Hezbollah flag at the Kneecap concert in London in November 2024.

The 27-year-old was charged in May 2025 under the UK Terrorism Act, which shows that goods or objects can be accused of supporting banned organizations and are threatened with criminal acts.

The trial, which was held today, is scheduled for a pledoi or defense of the defendant Mo Chara for criminal charges filed by the British Government prosecutor.

Mo Chara or his legal adviser is expected to argue that the indictment was filed too late so it had to be dropped.

Belfast-based kneecap sings rap in Irish and English. This rap music group also regularly displays pro-Palestinian messages during their performances.

Previously, Kneecap opened his voice regarding the Hezbollah flag that Mo Chara raised at the Kneecap concert in London. Kneecap said it was because it was thrown by the audience and the charges aimed at Mo Chara as a silencing attempt.
