Head Of BNPB: Infrastructure Affected By Earthquake M 5.8 Poso Responsibility Of Central Government

JAKARTA - Head of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) Suharyanto visited the location of the 5.8 magnitude (M) magnitude earthquake that rocked Poso Regency, Central Sulawesi.

Arriving at Poso, Tuesday, August 19, Suharyanto visited SDN 1 Tangkura in Tangkura Village, Poso Pesisir Selatan District, which was heavily damaged due to the impact of the earthquake.

Furthermore, the BNPB group visited the emergency post in the Tangkura Village Office yard, which was followed by an audience with the community.

"We convey to the community, people's homes, other infrastructure, houses of worship, public facilities, it is the central government's responsibility to repair it," he said.

He continued, gradually the displaced people will return to their homes, especially those whose houses are in good condition.

After meeting the community, the Head of BNPB continued the coordination meeting for the emergency handling of the earthquake at the Poso Regent's Office.

The Poso Regency Government has declared an emergency response status after the 5.8 magnitude earthquake that rocked Poso Regency on Sunday 17 August. Disaster emergency response status for 14 days from 18 to 31 August 2025.
