Government Of Jabodetabek Agrees To Close Burial Places For Pilgrimage During Eid Holidays

JAKARTA - Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan gathered regional heads in Jabodetabek, The Police Chief of Metro Jaya, Pangdam Jaya, and the Chief of The High Prosecutor's Office. Anies held a coordination meeting on controlling activities during the Eid al-Fitr season of 1442 Hijri.

As a result, the governments of Jakarta, Bogor, Tangerang, and Bekasi agreed to close public cemeteries (TPU) in Jabodetabek for grave pilgrimage during Eid holidays.

"All cemeteries in Jabodetabek will be closed from visitors for pilgrimage," Anies said after a meeting at Balai Kota DKI, Central Jakarta, Monday, May 10.

The closing of the funeral for the pilgrimage is valid from Wednesday, May 12 to Sunday, May 16, 2021. Even so, funeral processions at TPU can still be done.

"Activities for solitary funerals run in those cemeteries. will be arranged by the service that manages the funeral," said Anies.

In the meeting, Anies said, jabodetabek government agreed to encourage people not to visit each other during the Eid al-Fitr holiday across regions, either the scale of villages, villages, subdistricts, cities, districts or provinces. This follows a ban on local homecoming.

"This answers that has often been a discussion that visiting each other in the village, between villages, and inter-village, intercameral is not recommended," said Anies.

Anies advised jabodetabek residents to perform Eid prayers in their homes. For residents who pray outside the house, it is recommended to perform it at the local location.

"Do not go far, just to perform the Eid prayer so that the locations of prayer activities are locations visited by local people. This is to avoid cross-region transmission," said Anies.

If you want to hold Eid prayers at the local mosque, the maximum capacity for pilgrims is 50 percent. While takbiran is recommended virtually and performed in local mosques with a maximum capacity of 10 percent.
