Aceh Governor Proposes Endowment Funds For Ex-GAM Combatants Of IDR 1.5 Trillion To Prabowo

The Governor of Aceh, Muzakir Manaf, alias Mualem, plans to propose and ask for the endowment of the former Free Aceh Movement (GAM) from IDR 1 trillion to IDR 1.5 trillion to President Prabowo Subianto.

"Because considering that 20 years of peace, we must provide endowment funds for former GAM commanders," said Mualem, in Banda Aceh, Friday, August 15, as reported by ANTARA.

This request was conveyed by Mualem in his remarks at the 20th anniversary of the MoU Helsinki or Aceh peace, at the Meuseuraya Aceh (BMA) Center, in Banda Aceh.

Mualem said that the ex-GAM combatant's eternal funds were planned to be asked directly to the President for Rp1 trillion to Rp1.5 trillion.

The eternal funds will be asked to be separated or outside the annual Aceh revenue and expenditure budget (APBA). If given, the endowment fund will be deposited with the bank.

"We will convey it to the President with a note that we will put it in the bank and we will enjoy the deposits, if we agree and give it," he said.

Regarding this request, continued Mualem, later he will meet and ask the President directly after the commemoration of the Independence Day of the 80th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia.

"God willing, in the near future, after August 17, we will meet with the President. We hope that President Prabowo will be able to heed this," said the former GAM Commander.

At this moment, he also emphasized that Aceh is so sincere in peace. Therefore, the central government is expected to provide understanding.

Because, during the peace agreement, Aceh did not demand independence anymore, and this was also the promise of GAM leaders.

"We hope for the support of all figures to maintain this peace as well as possible. We are also committed to maintaining peace. Happy peace day Aceh, may we unite to build our beloved Aceh for prosperity and glory," said Mualem.
