JAKARTA - Police officers broke up a demonstration in Pati Regency, Central Java, which demanded the removal of Regent Pati Sudewo for protesters throwing at officers.

Protest security officers forcibly dispersed protesters on Wednesday, firing tear gas at a crowd of protesters deemed difficult to control.

Protesters were also seen carrying out anarchist acts by committing violence against several police officers who happened to be among the demonstrators, so that a number of police officers were injured.

Meanwhile, protesters also complained of pain in their eyes due to being hit by tear gas, so they ran to save themselves.

Head of Polresta Pati Police Commissioner Jaka Wahyudi during the demonstration was still conducive with the Commander of Kodim 0718/Pati Lt. Col. Arm Timothy Berlian Yogi Ananto in the midst of protesters conveying an invitation to convey their aspirations peacefully.

"This afternoon all of my colleagues together with Dandim Pati are present in the midst of you that you are kind and healthy. I am with Dandim Pati pro with the people," he said.

He will ensure all of his colleagues that the Pati residents in conveying their aspirations will be escorted by the Police and the TNI together with the community.

However, until 12.30 WIB the demonstration had not fully dispersed because it was still gathering in places free from the impact of tear gas.

Pati residents' demonstration started with the Pati Regency Government's policy of increasing the rate of land and rural and urban buildings (PBB-P2) to 250 percent.

Although the increase is a maximum limit and is not applied to all tax objects, because there is only 50 percent increase.

However, because there was a statement by the Regent of Pati Sudewo, which was considered to have hurt the hearts of people who invited to protest up to 5,000 or 50,000 people, even so that residents finally made a donation action by collecting dos-packaged mineral water along the sidewalk path in front of the Pati Regency pavilion.
