JAKARTA The Indonesian people now have a new alternative to clarify the truth of an information, namely through CekSource which can be accessed via WhatsApp instant messaging services.
CekSour is a chatbot service based on artificial intelligence (AI) that is able to check the truth of information not only in the form of text, but also reading misinformation in visual content such as videos and images.
The developer of CekSource, Andrew Daniel said, users only need to add a CekSource number, namely +62 851 2108 7680, to a cellphone contact. After that, users can immediately send messages without the need for registration.
Automatically, the system will read content, run searches, and match them with AI-based analysis to confirm the accuracy of the information sent. If a user uploads a video or photo without any orders, CekSource can still check sources relevant to the content.
"Every search results will be accompanied by a link to the source of information used to increase transparency," Andrew said in a statement received in Jakarta, Antara, Sunday, August 10.
Even so, Andrew emphasized that CekSource has not been able to access or check links from other social media. However, this service can already check information from social media in the form of screenshots.
He reminded, like other AI services, CekSource still has the potential to produce wrong answers. Therefore, a reference source link is always included so that users can re-check.
Pembangunan CekSourber turut menggandeng organisasi pemeriksaan fakta Masyarakat Antifitnah Indonesia (Mafindo) untuk memastikan sumber yang digunakan akurat.
Mafindo's Presidium chairman, Septiaji Eko Nugroho, said AI in CekSource was trained to identify credible sources of information, such as journalistic media, fact-checking sites, and other authoritative sources.

"However, the community still has to be critical. Even though it is relatively small, AI has the wrong potential. How to read laterally and compare information from various sources, both from CekSource and other credible sources, remains very important," said Septiaji.
The English, Chinese, Japanese, Arabic, and French versions are automatically generated by the AI. So there may still be inaccuracies in translating, please always see Indonesian as our main language. (system supported by DigitalSiber.id)
