Prabowo: Every Time We Want People's Welfare, We Are Disturbed, Intercepted

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto emphasized that the Indonesian people do not like war. However, based on historical records, Indonesia experienced various bitter experiences.

This was conveyed by Prabowo during the Military Operational and Honorary Forces Ceremony at the Special Forces Education and Training Center (Pusdiklatpassus) of the Indonesian Army, Batujajar, West Bandung Regency, West Java.

"The Indonesian nation does not like war, the Indonesian people want peace, but the Indonesian people have experienced bitter experiences. Every time we want to rise, we are disturbed. Every time we want to prosper our people, we are disturbed. Our wealth is robbed, we are pitted against each other," said Prabowo, Sunday, August 10.

Prabowo asked all parties not to forget history. Where, it is noted that Indonesia has been colonized for hundreds of years. Therefore, Prabowo views Indonesia's resilience after independence needs to be protected by army forces.

"Therefore, our nation needs a strong army. No nation is independent without a strong army," he continued.

According to Prabowo, the world is currently facing uncertainty. War between countries is happening everywhere. The former Minister of Defense emphasized that Indonesia does not side with any block. Therefore, for Prabowo, Indonesia must have a strong defense system.

"That's why today I inaugurated six new Kodam commanders, 20 new brigade commanders, and 100 new development territorial battalions. I have appointed commanders, commanders and brigades, selected people," explained Prabowo.

It is known that Prabowo inaugurated 6 new military regional commanders. Prabowo also inaugurated 14 naval regional commanders and 3 air force regional commanders.

In the series of ceremonies, Prabowo inaugurated Lt. Gen. Tandyo Budi Revita, who was originally Deputy Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Army, as Deputy Commander of the Indonesian Armed Forces. Then Prabowo inaugurated and inaugurated Lt. Gen. Djon Afriandi as Commander of the Special Forces Command (Kopassus) of the Indonesian Army, Lt. Gen. (Mar) Endi Supardi as Commander of the Indonesian Navy's Marine Corps, Vice Marshal TNI Deny Muis as Commander of the Air Force's Rapid Action Forces Corps, and TNI Intermediate Marshal Andyawan Martono Putra Commander of the Indonesian Air Defense Command National Air Force.

At the same location, Prabowo then awarded the rank of General of the Honorary TNI (HOR) to a number of retired TNI, namely to the Minister of Defense Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, Head of the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) M. Herindra, President Director of Agrinas Palma Agus Sutomo, who is also former Danjen Kopassus, and the Governor of DKI Jakarta 1966 Ali Sadikin, who is a lieutenant general of KKO-AL.

In the same procession, Prabowo continued to confer the rank of 3-star Honorary General to Suhartono Soeratman, Bambang Eko Suharyanto, Khairawan, Glenny Kairupan, Musa Bangun, Tony SB Hoesodo.

Then, the 2-star Honorary General was awarded by Prabowo to Taufik Hidayat. Finally, Prabowo also awarded the Star of Sakti Honor to Lieutenant General TNI Marines (Ret.) Muhammad Alfan Baharudin, and Lieutenant Dua (Ret.) Darius Bayani.

Prabowo gave the Honorary Sign of the Sakti Star to Lt. (Ret.) Darius because of his services and important roles in Operation Mapenduma in 1996 which then succeeded in releasing Indonesian citizens and foreigners who were held hostage by OPM in Papua.
