Crowded In Takbiran Night, Police: An Unlawful Action

JAKARTA - Head of Central Jakarta Metro Police, Grand Commissioner Hengki Haryadi, emphasized that all forms of crowds, especially when there is an event for the evening takbiran ahead of Eid Al-Fitr 1442 H, is an act of violation of the law.

"All forms of crowding are prohibited. Being prone to being in the category of COVID-19 contamination means that it is a violation of the law," said Grand Commissioner Hengki in Jakarta, as reported by Antara, Sunday, May 9.

Therefore, he reminded the public not to congregate during the night of takbiran.

According to him, takbiran nights are often a place for people to gather.

The police also continue to prioritize preventive measures to prevent people from crowding to celebrate Eid al-Fitr.

As a form of education, the Central Jakarta Metro Police has put up a number of banners as a form of information to the public.

Previously, the apparatus had also stated their readiness to disband if a community was determined to hold a traveling takbir.

"Nothing, there is no traveling takbir, which is in the nature of a crowd. So in this pandemic phase, there are specific things, putting other people in a dangerous situation is a criminal act," said Hengki after leading the Ketupat Jaya Operation Force 2021 Apel at the Monas Field, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, May 5.

Hengki explained that all actions that cause crowds can be classified as criminal acts.

There are also crowd offenders during the COVID-19 pandemic who can be convicted, in accordance with Law No. 6 of 2018 concerning Health Quarantine.

In monitoring the health protocol, as many as 1,500 joint personnel from the TNI, Polri, and Central Jakarta City Government were deployed to provide security in Central Jakarta in Ketupat Jaya Operation 2021.
