Polemic of 'Jokowi's Ambawang Grilled Pork, Observer: The Text Writing Team Must Be Responsible!

JAKARTA - A political observer from Al Azhar Indonesia University Jakarta, Ujang Komarudin, thinks that President Joko Widodo's speech text writing team must be responsible for the polemic's statement regarding Bipang (Grilled Pork, ed) Ambawang. In fact, there must be strict sanctions so that they do not happen again.

"The text-making team must be responsible. After all, it was he who made the words that the President was going to read, it was fatal," Ujang told VOI, Sunday, May 9.

According to Ujang, the text-making team must consider everything. In addition, it is necessary to check the text repeatedly.

"Writing speech texts should not be managed in an amateurish manner. It must be professional so that there are no mistakes," said Ujang.

In fact, Ujang also emphasized that there must be strict sanctions. Because mistakes have occurred several times. However, with a note that the text creation team is still the same.

"Just replace them if they've been wrong many times. But if the team is the one that's been wrong repeatedly," said Ujang.

On the other hand, Ujang also considered that Joko Widodo had made a mistake. Because, the text of the speech is not double-checked.

"Because Mr. Jokowi did not investigate. We should have discussed it first," he said.

Previously, the speech of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) received harsh criticism from netizens. Because it promotes Bipang Ambawang (Grilled Pork), typical food from Pontianak, West Kalimantan.

The video of the speech was highlighted because bipang was narrated as grilled pork which is an illegal food for Muslims. Suddenly, the video went viral and questioned why Jokowi promoted the Ambawang bipang during the Lebaran homecoming.

"Ladies and gentlemen, it will be Eid al-Fitr soon. However, because it is still in a pandemic atmosphere, the government has prohibited homecoming for our common safety," said Jokowi in a video shared on social media.

"For ladies and gentlemen who miss local specialties or who usually go home to bring souvenirs, you don't need to hesitate to order them online. Those who miss eating gudeg Jogja, Semarang milkfish, Bandung dumplings, empek-empek Palembang, bipang Ambawang from Kalimantan, and others, just order. And favorite food will be delivered to the house," said Jokowi.

One of the accounts with the name @Bosstemlen questioned why Jokowi was promoting Grilled Pork at the moment of Eid.

"The theme is Eid ... Why is there Bipang Ambawang Sir?" he wrote in response to Jokowi's video footage.
