NasDem Clarifies About East Kolaka OTT Information: KPK Don't Drama

The NasDem Party clarified information that said the East Kolaka Regent, Abdul Azis, was caught in a sting operation (OTT) by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). NasDem asked the KPK not to make noise and drama in the law enforcement process.

"We respect the law and the investigation process, but don't do dramas in open spaces on social media," said NasDem DPP General Treasurer Ahmad Sahroni, in his statement, Thursday, August 7.

Because when information spread, Abdul Azis was next to Sahroni attending the NasDem Party National Working Meeting (Rakernas).

"Abdul Azis is next to me and is following the National Working Meeting. If there is no news, it becomes a question," said Sahroni.

The Deputy Chairman of Commission III of the DPR assessed that OTT activities should have occurred in one place and time when the crime was committed. In this case, according to Sahroni, the statement by the Deputy Chairperson of the KPK Johanis Tanak did not match the facts because Abdul Azis was in Jakarta, following the party's official agenda.

He also regretted the framing that created public noise, even though there was no formal legal process.

"If this Regent is the target of law enforcement, please do it according to the process. But don't make noise as if OTT. People are now smarter, they can't be fooled," said Sahroni.

"So it is very unfortunate if this drama is played by parties we do not know the purpose and purpose," he added.

Meanwhile, East Kolaka Regent Abdul Azis denied reports of him being exposed to the KPK OTT. He stated that he only knew about the information after relatives in the vicinity expressed concern.

"I just heard about this three hours ago. Today I am in good condition, I am participating in the National Working Meeting. If there is an investigation process, I am ready to obey and obey," said Azis.

"But if this is part of drama and framing, it is very psychologically disturbing, it also disturbs the community," he continued.

Previously, Deputy Chairperson of the KPK Johanis Tanak said that his agency carried out a hand arrest operation against regional heads in the Southeast Sulawesi region.

He said the regional head was secured along with a number of parties at a restaurant in Makassar, in the alleged bribery case. However, until now, the KPK has not officially mentioned the names of the parties referred to in the OTT.
