Densus: ASN Aceh Ministry Of Religion Allegedly Leading And Financing Terrorist Networks

Densus members are carrying a number of evidences of terrorism at the Banda Aceh City Government Office (ANTARA).

JAKARTA - The National Police's Anti-terror Detachment 88 arrested two suspected terrorists in the Banda Aceh area. One of them is the State Civil Apparatus (ASN) of the Ministry of Religion (Kemenag).

"It's true, one ASN Aceh Province Regional Office of Religion," said Densus 88 Anti-terror Police Spokesperson AKBP Mayndra Eka Wardhana to VOI, Wednesday, August 6.

The suspected terrorist has the initials M. Meanwhile, the other is also an ASN with the initials ZA. Both were arrested on Tuesday, August 5.

Based on the initial examination, the two suspected terrorists had different roles. For M, it is said to be a high-ranking terrorist network.

"M was arrested for allegedly having a strategic role as one of the high-ranking terror network officials in the Aceh region, who was tasked with recruiting in the context of regeneration," he said.

Meanwhile, ZA is said to be involved in financing the activities of terrorist organizations. However, the deepening process related to its role is still being carried out.

"ZA is suspected of being involved in funding the activities of one of the terror organizations. He is suspected of managing the flow of funds used to support the group's logistics and activities," said Mayndra.

Regarding the follow-up to the arrest, Mayndra said the two suspected terrorists would be examined intensively.

"The two suspects have now been secured and are currently under intensive investigation. We will also explore their connection with a wider network," said Mayndra.
