Palace Wants To Add Community Quota To Participate In RI Anniversary Ceremony At The Palace

Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi, who is currently serving as Chair of the Committee for the Commemoration of the 80th Anniversary of Independence of the Republic of Indonesia, said the committee wanted to increase the quota for participants in the Indonesian Independence Day ceremony at the Merdeka Palace for the general public by around 1,000 to 2,000 people.

However, Prasetyo continued that the Palace is currently still verifying the thousands of people who have registered through the official website of the Presidential Palace Pandang.

"We also tried, analyzed, and tried to evaluate today. There are possibilities, plans for us to add quotas so that we will give the opportunity back to people who later do not include those who we state are entitled to receive invitations. We will, later, think about adding the quota that we are reopening to the community," said Prasetyo Hadi in response to reporters' questions when met on the sidelines of his activities at the Presidential Palace. Prasetyo said the committee was likely to announce the addition of the quota for the ceremony participants for the general public on Wednesday (6/8).

"So today, ask for help later, be patient first. We are verifying for 2 days, and God willing, maybe tonight or at the latest, tomorrow, we will announce again, that what I have said earlier is that there are plans to add quotas for both morning and evening events," said Prasetyo, who is also the spokesman for the President of the Republic of Indonesia.

The total quota currently available for participants of the 80th Anniversary of Indonesian Independence ceremony at the Merdeka Palace on August 17 was 16,000 seats, which was divided into two, namely 8,000 seats for the Commemoration Ceremony of Proclamation Seconds at 10.00 WIB, and 8,000 seats for the Red and White Flag Lowering Ceremony at 17.00 WIB. Of the total quota, 80 percent has been allocated to the general public, and since the registration page opened, the number of registrants has exceeded the quota.

Prasetyo also thanked the high public interest in participating in the ceremony of the 80th Anniversary of Indonesian Independence directly at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on August 17, 2025.

"Of course I, as the Chair of the Committee, and as the person in charge, express my gratitude to the entire community who had yesterday, with very high enthusiasm for registering to get an invitation. Indeed, we also apologize, because the availability of a very limited place, and it turns out that from the data that comes in, the public interest is extraordinary," said Prasetyo.
