JAKARTA - Member of Commission III of the DPR RI, Gilang Dhiefararez asked the Indonesian Police to continue investigating the death of a young diplomat from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Arya Daru Pangayunan, who still leaves doubts for the family and society. According to him, the case that has received public attention also risks the credibility of law enforcement institutions.

"This case is quite attracting public attention. Therefore, the accountability of state institutions in ensuring the disclosure of public information is also in the spotlight," said Gilang Dhielafararez, Tuesday, August 5.

Moreover, continued Gilang, telematics expert Abimanyu Wachjoewidajat revealed a series of irregularities in the CCTV footage released by the police. The video, which is claimed to be proof that Arya's last movement is considered to have many black holes', both in terms of visual continuity and chronological narrative logic.

"This then raises big questions about the integrity and completeness of evidence in cases that have attracted public attention from the start," said Gilang.

Gilang emphasized that law enforcement officers are obliged to prioritize transparency in the investigation process involving the lives of citizens, especially regarding the figure of state officials who work in strategic institutions. He said that the public not only has the right to know, but also needs to be convinced that the law is enforced professionally, objectively, and selectively.

"We don't want speculation to develop wildly because of the lack of access to complete information. When there are irregularities in visual documentation and there are independent parties who show data-based analysis, it is natural that an open request for clarification appears," said the legislator from the Central Java II electoral district.

According to Gilang, it is the family's right to know the truth in its entirety and should not be compromised. Especially for technical or administrative reasons.

"The state is not enough to only express sympathy, but also to be responsible for ensuring that the law enforcement process does not leave a gray space that harms the victim or his family," he said.

Therefore, Gilang encourages a digital forensic audit of all CCTV evidence that has not been released or shown to the public by involving an independent and accountable team of experts. According to him, this kind of step will be a form of healthy correction in a democratic law enforcement system.

"We do not intend to intervene in the investigation process, in fact we want to ensure that legal principles run within the framework of accountability that can be accounted for in public," said Gilang.

The Indonesian Police have stated that they will not stop the investigation into the Arya Daru death case, which is considered still a mystery. Although they concluded that they did not find anyone else's intervention in Arya's death, the police still opened up the possibility to re-investigate the death case.

"We certainly support this effort. If there are still public and family anxiety about the cause of death of the victim, the police should continue the investigation until there is absolutely no doubt in this case," concluded Gilang.

As is known, the family of the late Arya Daru is still not satisfied with the conclusion of the Directorate of General Criminal Investigation of the Metro Jaya Police regarding the death of the young Indonesian diplomat.

On Tuesday, July 29, Polda Metro Jaya concluded that there was no interference of other parties as the cause of Arya Daru's death, or in other words the death of the victim was not caused by criminal acts such as murder or persecution.

Daru's family hopes that every existing fact can be thoroughly examined and open, including transparently opening CCTV footage.
