Ask Palembang Residents Not To Spread The One Piece Flag, Walkot: So As Not To Be Divided

Mayor (Walkot) of Palembang Ratu Dewa asked residents not to be provoked to follow the issue of flying the one piece flag on August 17, 2025.

"We ask residents not to be provoked by issues, so that we are not divided, through the issue of raising this one piece flag," said Ratu Dewa in an interview in Palembang, South Sumatra, Monday, as quoted by Antara.

By asking residents not to get involved in the issue of the one piece flag, it is hoped that the situation in the city of Palembang will remain conducive and residents can focus on other positive activities.

"We hope that residents can focus on other positive activities," he said.

Previously, the Mayor of Palembang, Ratu Dewa, appealed to the entire community and office agencies to put up a red and white flag starting Friday, August 1, 2025.

In addition, he also asked the head of the RT to hold various competitions to welcome the 80th anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia.

He also encouraged the community, especially the heads of the RT to liven up the atmosphere of celebrating independence with various creative activities and competitions in their respective environments.

"Enlive the atmosphere. Hold people's competitions so that this moment becomes more lively and meaningful," he said.

Meanwhile, in celebrating the Republic of Indonesia's Independence Day in 2025, his party will hold a Bidar Boat Festival on the Musi River, Palembang City.

The Bidar Boat Festival is a boat racing event filled with traditional rowers.

This activity is usually carried out by the Palembang City Government when it coincides with the celebration of the Republic of Indonesia's Independence Day. The event is usually carried out in the Musi River, which above it stands firmly on the Ampera Bridge.

As in previous years, the Bidar Festival became an attraction, thousands of people watched from the riverbank, from the top of the Ampera Bridge, Musi VI Bridge, even from small boats belonging to residents around the Musi River.
