Donald Trump Prepares Two Nuclear Submarines After Disputing With Dmitry Medvedev

JAKARTA - US President Donald Trump, Friday (1/8), said he had directed the deployment of two US nuclear submarines to "the right territory", during a war of words between Trump and former Russian president Dmitry Medvedev.

"I have ordered the placement of two nuclear submarines in the right territory, just in case this stupid and provocative statement is more than just that," Trump wrote on social media.

Trump said that he directed this based on a very provocative statement from the former Russian president, Dmitry Medvedev, who is now the Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation. "The words are very important, and can often cause unwanted consequences, I hope this will not be one example," he added.

Later, while leaving the White House for a weekend vacation at his Bedminster Golf Club, in the State of New Jersey, Trump told reporters that "a threat has been made by the former president of Russia (Madvedev), and we will protect our people".

Earlier, Medvedev denounced Trump on Monday (28/7), warning that increasing pressure by the US president on the Kremlin over the war in Ukraine was at risk of triggering a wider conflict, not only between Russia and Ukraine, but also between Russia and the US.

Trump wrote on X that Russia must remember two things, first Russia is neither Israel nor Iran, and second is every new ultimatum being a threat and a move towards war.

The former Russian president stepped up his warning in a separate Telegram post, raising the issue of the Soviet Union's "Dead Hand" system during the Cold War, which automates nuclear attacks if the leadership of the Soviet Union is helpless.

The system is reportedly still operating today.
