Not On The Streets Or Toll Roads, This Regional Police Is Insulated From Going Home To The Sea

MERANTI - Meranti Archipelago Police, Riau, conducted insulation in the sea to anticipate people who are desperate to go home for Lebaran.

Meranti Islands Police Chief AKBP Eko Wimpiyanto Hardjito said the sealing in the sea route was to ensure that no community would go home to avoid the spread of COVID-19.

Since Thursday, May 6, officers have found two speed boats. However, the passengers are workers, not travelers.

The isolation patrols are combing a number of ports, including Tanjung Harapan Port, Semukut-Mekong crossing port, and Buton Port.

"We want to ensure that there are no activities going home for Lebaran along with the policy of eliminating homecoming," said Eko as quoted by Antara, Friday, May 7.

During the patrol, joint officers did not find any passenger ships that were still operating from Meranti Islands Regency to outside the area or vice versa. This is also due to the prohibition of ships operating from May 6 to 17, 2021.

The Police Chief appealed to the public to comply with the rules for eliminating the 2021 homecoming in order to prevent and break the chain of the spread of COVID-19, especially in the Meranti Islands.

"Let's support the government's efforts in suppressing the spread of COVID-19 so that the pandemic will end soon," Eko said.
