After Ramadan Ends, Restaurant Operating Hours In Jakarta Return To 9 PM

JAKARTA - The Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Office will return the restaurant operational hours to 21.00 p.m. after the month of Ramadan ends. This rule is like the one that applies during the micro-scale restrictions on community activities (PPKM) period before Ramadan.

This is stated in the Decree of the Head of the Tourism and Creative Economy Office of the Capital City Province of Jakarta Number 354 of 2021 concerning the Extension of the Enforcement of Restrictions on Micro-Based Community Activities in the Tourism Business Sector.

"The operating hours of restaurants for the holy month of Ramadan are up to 21.00 p.m.", said Head of the Tourism and Creative Economy Office Gumilar Ekalaya as quoted in the decree, Friday, May 7.

Meanwhile, food delivery or takeaway services are still allowed to serve 24 hours.

Previously, DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan officially extended the operating hours of restaurants during the month of Ramadan this year. This is stated in Governor's Decree (Kepgub) Number 434 of 2021.

"To support community activities in carrying out the worship of the holy month of Ramadan in 1442 Hijri by adjusting the types of restrictions on micro-based community activities on restaurant activities, Governor's Decree No. 405 of 2021 needs to be changed", Anies said in the Governor's Decree.

In this Decree, it is stipulated that food stalls, restaurants, cafes, street vendors, or stalls at fostered locations and temporary locations, on-site dining, or dine-in services are extended until 22.30 p.m.

Then, restaurants can operate again from 02.00 a.m. to 04.30 a.m. to serve the needs of suhoor (pre-dawn meal). Meanwhile, take away/delivery can operate 24 hours.

"Dine in with a maximum capacity of 50 percent of visitors", said Anies.
