The results of the earthquake parameter updating carried out by BMKG showed the epicenter was located at coordinates 52.51 degrees North Latitude and 160.26 degrees East Longitude at a depth of 18 kilometers due to plate subduction activity in Palung Kurile-Kamchatka (Kurile-Kamchatka Trench) with the fault mechanism rising.
Daryono said that until 08.30 WIB, the results of BMKG monitoring detected seven aftershock activity with the largest magnitude 6.9 and the smallest 5.4 in the local country.
Based on a report by the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center (PTWC), the earthquake also has the potential for a tsunami in the regions of Russia, Japan, Alaska, the Philippines, Hawaii, and Guam.
