Head of Operations for the East Jakarta Fire and Rescue Agency (Gulkarmat), Gatot Sulaeman, said the fire was suspected to have been caused by an electrical short circuit when the owner went home.

"The owner is suspected of having an electrical short circuit from inside the warehouse," said Gatot Sulaeman when confirmed, quoted by Antara, Friday, May 7.

Gatot added, residents around the fire location saw that the fire suddenly grew bigger and burned down the warehouse filled with piles of plastic and foam.

He said his party had to deploy as many as seven pump cars with 35 personnel to extinguish the blazing fire.

The extinguishing process ended at 07.09 a.m. WI after the officers struggled for about an hour and a half to extinguish the fire.

There were no casualties in this fire incident. However, the material loss was estimated at Rp. 500 million.
