The Ciamis Police have arrested a security guard from the Ciamis Regency Government, West Java, who robbed an online motorcycle taxi driver (ojol) with disabilities due to online gambling addiction.

The security guard with the initials IS (22), a Ciamis resident, committed his crime because he was pressed for economic needs, as well as addicted to playing online gambling.

The suspect, he continued, then desperate to plan an act of theft against ojol by preparing a kitchen knife to threaten the victim and make it easier to take the victim's motorbike.

"With the mode of pretending to be a passenger, then in the middle of the road being pointed at by a knife, and the perpetrator then carried the victim's motorbike and money," said the Police Chief.

The security guard initially ordered ojol through an application to take him from the Paperari area to Rancah, Ciamis Regency on July 4, 2024 at around 21.00 WIB.

Without suspicion, the victim who was using a Yamaha Jupiter Z1 motorcycle picked up the perpetrator and then traveled according to the destination.

However, while on the way, the perpetrator pointed the kitchen knife he had brought, then the victim's motorbike and Rp800 thousand in cash were taken away by the perpetrator and left the victim.

The police then received the incident report and immediately processed the crime scene, and investigated it by tracing it until the perpetrator was finally detected.

"The perpetrator admitted that his actions, where the victim's motorbike and STNK were still under the control of the perpetrator because the perpetrator was confused when he was going to sell the motorbike," he said.

The suspect was charged with Article 365 of the Criminal Code with the threat of imprisonment for nine years.
