Ministry Of Transportation: Don't Get Used To Try Your Luck To 'Passing' The Blocking For Homecoming

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Transportation reminds the public not to use the principle of "chancy" to keep doing homecoming for Lebaran 2021 even though there has been an official ban from the government.

Secretary of the Directorate General of Land Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation, Marta Hardi Sarwono, in a webinar entitled "Homecoming Ban 2021: Tightened to Ensure Controlled COVID-19" reveals that many travelers hope to be lucky and escape from the isolation points guarded by the police.

"For the community, don't get used to depending on luck. If you pass the first blocking, you may get caught in the second blocking. If you pass the second blocking, you will enter the third blocking. For example, if all pass, the neighbors can visit the destination and report it. If it is detected (positive), then enter the isolation area prepared by the local government," he said, as reported by Antara, Friday, May 7.

In line with that, the Head of Sub Directorate of Operational Control Sector of the National Police's Traffic Corps, Grand Commissioner Adjutant Dhafi explains that the police has prepared 381 blocking points to prevent the community from doing homecoming for Lebaran 2021/Idul Fitri 1442 H.

He also asked people not to force themselves for homecoming by any means.

"In the end, they will also be caught," he said.

Following the policy of homecoming ban which was enforced this Thursday, Grand Commissioner Adjutant Dhafi said that his party had also started diverting or asking travelers to make a U-turn and not continuing the homecoming.

He also emphasized that no sanctions will be given by the police to travelers who violate the policy of homecoming ban. However, if travelers violate traffic laws such as violating speed limits, cargo, or others, they will likely be subjected to violations.

"There will be no other legal action as long as it does not violate statutory regulations on the highway. Only reversed or turn around. There is no confinement," he said.

The police, continued Police Grand Commissioner Adjutant Dhafi, will also conduct an examination first. The reason is, people who leave for work and emergency needs are still allowed to pass.

"Starting with an examination if one's not going hometown, there must be several administrative stages, a permit, free of COVID-19, the rapid test is also checked. If it is fulfilled and for work or urgent purposes, it is allowed as long as not going hometown," concluded Grand Commissioner Adjutant Dhafi.
