JAKARTA - President Jokowi Widodo (Jokowi) visited the Brondong Fish Marketing and Distribution Center (PPDI) in Lamongan Regency, East Java.

On that occasion, he listened to a number of inputs from the fishermen, including hearing complaints about silting in the port.

"Earlier there were complaints about silting at the port, in two locations that we requested to be dredged and I have told them. Later, the dredging will be carried out in two or three months", Jokowi said after a dialogue with fishermen as broadcast on  Presidential Secretariat's YouTube, Thursday, May 6.

Not only silting, but the former governor of DKI Jakarta also said that the fishermen asked that the bow lights be elevated. He then managed to do this so that fishermen could work safely.

"I have done it and we hope that some of the improvements will improve fishermen's welfare because they want to dock and to dismantle become easier", he said.

Furthermore, Jokowi said that during the COVID-19 pandemic, the condition of fishermen around PPDI did not experience any problems. The fishermen can still go to sea.

"The condition of the fishermen here is not a problem and they can go to sea as usual, normal and the results are also normal", he said.

For information, President Jokowi today conducted a working visit with the entourage to East Java Province.

He departed from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base, Jakarta, and will visit several places such as PPDI Brondong in Lamongan as well as a waste-to-electricity processing facility (PSEL) located at the Benowo Final Disposal Site (TPA).
