BATANG - A series of accidents occurred at KM 353+800 of the B Batang Toll Road, Semarang, Central Java, Monday morning. This incident involved a Mitsubishi Pajero Sport car with two trucks, and left three people dead.
The Batang Resort Police have evacuated all victims to the Kalisari Batang Regional General Hospital (RSUD) for a post-mortem.
"We have evacuated the victims to the Kalisari Batang Hospital. We are sorry for this incident," said Head of the Batang Police Traffic Unit, AKP Ahmad Zainurozaq when confirmed in Batang, Antara, Monday, July 14.
Three of the dead were passengers and driver of the Pajero Sport car with police number G 1392 WD.
They are Ramadhoni (23), a resident of Ulujami, Pemalang Regency, who suffered serious head and neck injuries; Nurochim (54), a resident of Comal, Pemalang, who suffered head injuries and bruises on the chest; and Nur Sidik (61), also a resident of Ulujami, Pemalang, with severe head injuries.
According to police statement, the incident began when Pajero's car was traveling on the right lane to the west (to Pemalang). When passing at the scene, the car suddenly swerved to the left and hit the back of a truck driving in front of it.
After the first collision, Pajero stopped on the left lane. But a few moments later, a box truck numbered B 9040 UXZ driven by Muhamad Ibad (22), a resident of Gresik, came from behind and hit the back of Pajero. This second collision left Pajero's body badly damaged, both at the front and rear.
AKP Ahmad Zainurozaq said the results of the initial examination showed that the accident was most likely caused by a sleepy Pajero driver and lost concentration while driving.
