Broken On The Frontline: Nunukan Police Officer Arrested By Circulating Drugs Between Countries

Nunukan Police Chief AKBP Bonifasius Rumbewas revealed the identities of four police officers in his area who were arrested in connection with drug trafficking between countries.

Four police officers from the Nunukan Police Narcotics Unit were named suspects by the National Police Headquarters on suspicion of involvement in drug trafficking between countries. Their arrests were made on Sebatik Island, border areas of Indonesia and Malaysia.

The Nunukan Police Chief, AKBP Bonifasius Rumbewas, confirmed that the entire legal process is now under the authority of the National Police Headquarters, including further investigations and investigations.

"The perpetrators have been secured and taken to the National Police Headquarters. The full authority of the investigation is at the Headquarters," said AKBP Bonifasius Rumbewas in his statement, Sunday, July 13.

Boni also revealed the identities of the suspects, consisting of one officer and three police officers, namely the Head of the Narcotics Investigation Unit of the Nunukan Police, Iptu SDH, Brigpol S, Bripda MA, and Bripda JB.

The four were arrested by a joint team from the National Police Headquarters and North Kalimantan Police while on Sebatik Island, a strategic location that is often used as a drug smuggling route because it borders Malaysia directly.

AKBP Boni also denied reports that the number of suspects reached seven. He emphasized that only four police officers were arrested and taken to Jakarta.

"So far, there may be news of seven people or more. We emphasize that only four personnel have been detained," he continued.

The four police officers are certain to receive strict sanctions in accordance with applicable legal regulations, both in the form of code of ethics and criminal sanctions.

"They will be prosecuted. There is no intervention. We make sure the handling is carried out in a neutral and professional manner," he concluded.
