The Teachings Of 'Tamat Sembahyang' In Hulu Sungai Tengah, 6 Followers Are Fostered

The allegation of the emergence of a deviant sect called 'Tamat Sembahyang' in Jaranih Village, Pandawan District, Hulu Sungai Tengah Regency (HST), South Kalimantan, has attracted serious attention from a number of parties.

The Supervision Team for the Flow of Trust and Religious Flows in the HST Community (Pakem) held a cross-sector coordination meeting, Wednesday, July 9, to prevent the spread of teachings that were considered to deviate from Islamic teachings.

"This Rakor is a cross-sectoral synergy to prevent the development of deviant understanding and disturb the public," said the Head of the HST District Attorney's Office (Kejari), Yusup Darmaputra at a meeting held at the HST Kejari Hall, quoted from Antara.

The meeting was attended by a number of elements, ranging from the Kesbangpol Agency, the Ministry of Religion, the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), to intelligence across agencies, Pandawan Sub-district Head, and elements of village government.

Yusup said, as many as six residents who had followed the teachings of 'Tamat Sembahyang' would get periodic guidance and supervision so that the teachings would not develop further in society.

"They need to be nurtured and monitored regularly so they don't develop further," he said.

He also emphasized the importance of maintaining religious harmony in Jaranih Village and inviting residents who had followed the teachings to return to true Islamic faith.

As a precautionary measure, the six followers of the sect will make a statement letter and a video testimonial stating that they have repenting and are committed not to spreading the teachings again.

Yusup also said that the Pandawan District MUI would carry out intensive guidance, accompanied by Pambakal (Village Head) and Pandawan Sub-district Head, to ensure that supervision runs effectively and provides positive suggestions to the community.

"It is hoped that with monitoring from various elements, it can minimize the risk of new movement," he said.
