BADUNG - Italian foreigner, Albani Roberto (75) was found abandoned and begging in the area of Jalan Benesari, Legian, Kuta, Badung Regency, Bali.

The head of the Badung Civil service police (Satpol PP), I Gusti Agung Ketut Suryanegara, said that the foreigner was found sleeping in a storefront in the area. The residents then reported to the officer.

"It was found in Legian on Jalan Benesari", said Suryanegara, when contacted Wednesday, May 5.

According to him, this Italian foreigner originally lived in Canggu, North Kuta. However, during the COVID-19 pandemic, this Italian foreigner could not return to his home country due to the implementation of a lockdown.

Italian foreigner Albani claims to be an artist and has had a business. The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic made his business bankrupt until finally Albani was abandoned.

"Previously he said he had a business here and lived in Canggu. Since the lockdown in Italy, his business stopped and went bankrupt. He said he was an artist", explained Suryanegara.

This Italian foreigner who has been in Bali for a year hangs around on the side of the road. He survived at the mercy of the people who fed him.

"He said, almost a year there since this pandemic. Yes, for sure (someone provided help) up to that year", he continued.

Currently, the Italian foreigner has been brought to the Bali immigration office. When this foreigner was brought, he only had clothes to wear.

"He's already taken to immigration. He is healthy because later he will have to have another medical test. (For his identity) there is a confession but he said he lost it", said Suryanegara.
